2017
The Spark that Stuck…
Hannah, founder of HWM Design, found her creative spark back in secondary school during her textiles GCSE.
“I’ve always been a bit obsessed with making things come to life through art, looking back this really was the moment I discovered my love for adding movement, texture and layers to completely transform a surface. Suddenly the fabric of my textile garments weren’t just flat, they were packed full of energy, life, and character. That little spark of “wow, I’ve just created something that feels alive” became the spark that stuck.”
2022
Design is in the Detail…
Fast forward a few more years and Hannah began studying a degree in Architecture at Central Saint Martins, University of the Arts London.
“One of the biggest things I took away from my degree was that successful design almost always lies in the detail! Texture, colour and shape really are powerful tools, and if used correctly, they can completely change the way someone feels when they experience your work. Design is never just about what you see in front of you; it’s always about instilling an emotion into the end user! The best designs always begin with a feeling. You decide on the emotion you want to spark, and then you build the details around that intention. That’s when design really works its magic.”
2023
Born to be Over the Top (It’s the Best Way!)
Hannah became the go to celebrations and party planner across her family, she is known for bringing creativity, attention to detail and a touch of magic to every family event.
“And then there’s my absolute favourite part: celebrations! I can’t seem to resist going decoration-overboard at every single opportunity. For my 21st birthday, I designed and styled the entire tablescape - pinks, oranges, florals and so much sparkle! Seeing people’s faces light up when they walked in the room was the best part. Pure magic. That’s what I love most, creating moments that feel authentic and special. Whether it’s a glitter-filled balloon arch for my grandad’s 80th birthday, or a shimmering cookie for my cousin’s hen do, I just can’t seem to help adding extra sparkle wherever I go!”
2025
HWM Design was Born…
“HWM Design was born from that same spark that has driven me since my earliest creative work. Each design really is just so much more than ink and paper. It’s a hand designed little piece of magic - a feeling captured in mixed media that you can pass on and share with the people you love. Every piece has been hand-glittered, a personal touch added by me, to make my designs feel extra special.
My philosophy is, if I can create a little bit of happiness on each of my cards, I can pass that happiness on to my customers and their loved ones. In a challenging and increasingly scary world, this is my contribution to spread joy, kindness, and a little sparkle to make everyone’s lives feel that little bit brighter.”
